Create a private collection

Creating a private collection on PicTrax offers a range of benefits and functionalities. Here are a few examples:

Private Travel Itineraries: Use a private collection to gather and organise map-pinned destinations within a specific area, like Tasmania. This helps you visualise the concentration of desired sites in that region, allowing you to plan your travel itinerary effectively.

Accommodation Planning: By clustering map pins around a particular location, you can determine the optimal length of stay and plan your accommodation accordingly. This ensures you have accommodation close to your destinations and have enough time to explore the area and enjoy all the activities you have in mind.

Convenient GPS Coordination and Directions: When you’re ready to travel to your next destination, simply open your private collection, tap on the thumbnail of the desired location in the Detail View, and access directions directly to that specific place. This makes navigation and getting to your desired destinations a breeze.

Tracking Important Sites: Private collections can be useful for professionals and individuals who need to keep track of specific sites or areas. For example, a park ranger can create a private collection to monitor endangered bird or animal nesting sites, while a farmer can use it to track areas that require repairs on their property. Alernatively, a property developer may plot sites under development for navigation and planning. By taking photos and uploading them to a private collection, you can easily identify and locate these sites when needed.

Tracking Changes Over Time: Use privately pinned images to monitor and document changes in specific locations over time. This is particularly helpful for tracking erosion sites or any other environmental changes that may occur.

Additionally, private collections can be used for personal purposes like remembering where you parked your car or noting the entry point to a long beach. The flexibility of PicTrax’s private pins and collections allows you to tailor them to your unique needs and preferences.

Create collections of destinations under a common theme

Collections can be created to group destinations under a common theme or along a route – for instance ‘New Zealand West Coast Must Visit Destinations’, ‘Spectacular Wedding Locations in Regional NSW’, Amazing Dive Sites, QLD’s Top Rainforest Views’, ‘World’s Best Waterfalls’, ‘Chicago’s Best Night Spots’, ‘Painted Grain Silos of the Outback’ ‘World’s Must-See Street Art’, ‘Kim’s Ireland Landscape Photography Destinations’, ‘Banksy’s Around The World’ … any publicly accessible location-specific images can be save to a collection.

Collections can help people share niche travel passions that may not appeal to a large audience and therefore not be worth marketing to from a tourism perspective. Help people from train lovers to landscape photographers and regional road trippers find and travel to these niche destinations.

Help like-minded souls find the treasures you have found, show what can be found in regional or off-the-beaten-track destinations, and help worthy destinations gain visibility.

Create a new collection and save your own and other people's images to it

Personalise your travel itinerary by creating a collection and saving your own and other people’s images to it.

Tailor your travel experience by curating a collection of destinations that share a common theme. You can gather publicly published images, whether you uploaded them or not, and save them to your collection. By sharing your collection, you allow others with similar travel or destination interests to explore the amazing discoveries you’ve made.

For example, you can create a collection called ‘Best Waterfalls in the World’ and discover the locations of these breathtaking destinations on the interactive map.

To get started, tap on the user icon at the bottom right to access your profile. Under the collections tab, tap on the ‘create a collection’ button. Give your collection a name, add a description, and include relevant hashtags. When you come across an image or destination that fits your collection theme, simply go to Detail View and tap the bookmark icon. Then select the desired collection to add it to.

You can also edit your collection by tapping and holding an image to rearrange its position within the sequence or remove it from the collection altogether.

Feel free to reorder collection images to create a visually appealing collection feed, an ordered list based on preferences (from best to worst, nearest to furthest), or any other logic that suits your needs.

*Please note that deleting an image from a collection does not remove it from the app.

Publish and unpublish your collection

When you’ve curated a stunning collection and are eager to share it, just tap on the blue slide-out tab and select the globe icon with the ‘publish’ label in the menu panel.

This will make your collection public, allowing others to download it and embark on a journey to your recommended destinations.

If you wish to make your collection private again, simply tap the blue slide-out tab menu and choose ‘unpublish’. This action will remove your collection from the profiles of anyone who has saved it, though, so please consider this disruption before unpublishing!
