In the realm of exploration, there exist wonders that defy the boundaries of traditional addresses. Think about a crop circle sprung up in a vast wheat field, a mysterious rock formation deep in the desert, or an awe-inspiring UFO sighting experienced from an unmarked dirt road seemingly in the middle of nowhere. These destinations lack standard addresses, yet they beckon to curious souls.
Using the capture location’s GPS longitude and latitude, PicTrax provides Tap-to-Go Navigation, an intuitive way to guide you to experience sites that defy conventional addresses.
When you’ve found a destination you want to investigate, simply tap on the directions icon and the coordination will be sent to your installed map app, showing you precicely where to find the capture location. Whether it’s a UFO sighting location reported by a fellow enthusiast or a series of Out Of Place Artifact (OOPART) rock carvings, navigating to these experiential sites has been made simple. No need to decipher complicated coordinates or rely on ambiguous descriptions. PicTrax’s Tap-to-Go Navigation serves as your digital compass, leading you directly to the spot where your curiosity can be sated.
This innovative navigation tool not only simplifies your journey but also opens doors to a world of exploration previously inaccessible. Imagine the thrill of discovering a hidden waterfall cascading down a mountainside or standing under the vast canopy of a thousand-year-old tree—all made possible by PicTrax’s intuitive navigation system.
So, whether you’re chasing UFO mysteries, seeking off-the-beaten-path adventures, or yearning to experience the extraordinary, let PicTrax be your guide. Embrace the freedom of exploration without boundaries, and let the wonders of the world unfold at your fingertips. With PicTrax’s Tap-to-Go Navigation, every touch becomes a ticket to the extraordinary.
Whether you find yourself amidst the enigmatic formations of crop circles or gazing at the cosmic wonders of a UFO sighting, these unmarked territories beg exploration. In the vast expanse of remote locations, be it a rugged hiking trail, the depths of a dive site, the challenging terrain of a 4×4 trail, a serene beach, or the unfamiliar landscapes devoid of landmarks, manually pinpointing an image becomes a daunting task.
Fear not, for PicTrax, armed with the wonders of modern technology, has the solution. With location services activated on your phone, drone, or Geo-location-enabled DSLR camera, PicTrax seamlessly accesses image metadata and pins it to the exact capture location on the map.
However, it’s essential to acknowledge the limitations of technology. The accuracy of the pin relies on satellite signal strength and may occasionally deviate from 100% precision. In certain situations, the pin might not manifest at all due to signal interferences or challenging environmental conditions.
PicTrax offers flexibility to cater to every traveller’s needs. If, for any reason, GPS metadata is unavailable, fear not! During the upload process, you can manually select and pin the image to its capture location, ensuring your travel experiences are accurately represented.
Every image uploaded to PicTrax is a tale of exploration, and each pin is a mark of your journey’s significance. We uphold the importance of precision to maintain the integrity of the PicTrax experience. Inaccurately pinned images may be reported and removed from the platform. Repeat offenders or those seeking to mislead, will be banned from the platform.
If you’re using a digital or non-GPS DSLR camera, or if you choose not to enable your device’s location services, your image won’t contain GPS metadata (longitude and latitude) in the image info.
To pin an image with no GPS metadata, tap the “+” button and select the image from your phone’s gallery or file structure.
If the GPS metadata is missing, the map will show your current location, just in case you’re still nearby.
Use the search bar to look for a location, street address, or nearby landmark close to where you were. Pinch and zoom on the provided map to find the exact spot where the image was taken. Tap the capture location on the map to pin the image there.
This will pin the image to the location you selected on the globally shared interactive map. Others will then be able to find the location you pinned and explore it.
Even without GPS metadata, PicTrax gives you the ability to accurately place your images on the map. Enjoy a comprehensive and interactive travel experience that lets you share your amazing discoveries with others.
Spot an image that piques your interest? Tap on a thumbnail in the feed view to see its location on the map above.
Tap on the on-map icon to open Detail View, where you can like, comment, save, tap-to-go to the destination, or report the image if you suspect it’s inauthentic.
You can also tap on the user’s profile image to explore all the uploading user’s images, read the image description, discover the destination’s accessibility and available activities.
Personalise your travel itinerary by creating a collection and saving your own and other people’s images to it.
Tailor your travel experience by curating a collection of destinations that share a common theme. You can gather publicly published images, whether you uploaded them or not, and save them to your collection. By sharing your collection, you allow others with similar travel or destination interests to explore the amazing discoveries you’ve made.
For example, you can create a collection called ‘Best Waterfalls in the World’ and discover the locations of these breathtaking destinations on the interactive map.
To get started, tap on the user icon at the bottom right to access your profile. Under the collections tab, tap on the ‘create a collection’ button. Give your collection a name, add a description, and include relevant hashtags. When you come across an image or destination that fits your collection theme, simply go to Detail View and tap the bookmark icon. Then select the desired collection to add it to.
You can also edit your collection by tapping and holding an image to rearrange its position within the sequence or remove it from the collection altogether.
Feel free to reorder collection images to create a visually appealing collection feed, an ordered list based on preferences (from best to worst, nearest to furthest), or any other logic that suits your needs.
*Please note that deleting an image from a collection does not remove it from the app.
When you’ve curated a stunning collection and are eager to share it, just tap on the blue slide-out tab and select the globe icon with the ‘publish’ label in the menu panel.
This will make your collection public, allowing others to download it and embark on a journey to your recommended destinations.
If you wish to make your collection private again, simply tap the blue slide-out tab menu and choose ‘unpublish’. This action will remove your collection from the profiles of anyone who has saved it, though, so please consider this disruption before unpublishing!
Fancy someone else’s collection? Tap the blue slide-out tab on the right and click the bookmark icon to save the collection to your profile. Now you can access it whenever you’re ready to explore those destinations! Read More
If you have a future travel plan in mind, you can save a collection of someone else’s discoveries in that specific destination. And if such a collection doesn’t exist, feel free to create one yourself!
“Lauren’s Favourite Views in Victoria’s Southern Highlands” … here we come!
This feature allows users to follow in the footsteps of travel influencers worldwide and enables regional tourism bodies to showcase a collection of their region’s best-kept secrets.
Creating a private collection on PicTrax offers a range of benefits and functionalities. Here are a few examples:
Private Travel Itineraries: Use a private collection to gather and organise map-pinned destinations within a specific area, like Tasmania. This helps you visualise the concentration of desired sites in that region, allowing you to plan your travel itinerary effectively.
Accommodation Planning: By clustering map pins around a particular location, you can determine the optimal length of stay and plan your accommodation accordingly. This ensures you have accommodation close to your destinations and have enough time to explore the area and enjoy all the activities you have in mind.
Convenient GPS Coordination and Directions: When you’re ready to travel to your next destination, simply open your private collection, tap on the thumbnail of the desired location in the Detail View, and access directions directly to that specific place. This makes navigation and getting to your desired destinations a breeze.
Tracking Important Sites: Private collections can be useful for professionals and individuals who need to keep track of specific sites or areas. For example, a park ranger can create a private collection to monitor endangered bird or animal nesting sites, while a farmer can use it to track areas that require repairs on their property. Alernatively, a property developer may plot sites under development for navigation and planning. By taking photos and uploading them to a private collection, you can easily identify and locate these sites when needed.
Tracking Changes Over Time: Use privately pinned images to monitor and document changes in specific locations over time. This is particularly helpful for tracking erosion sites or any other environmental changes that may occur.
Additionally, private collections can be used for personal purposes like remembering where you parked your car or noting the entry point to a long beach. The flexibility of PicTrax’s private pins and collections allows you to tailor them to your unique needs and preferences.
When deciding whether to upload images to public or private, it’s important to consider the nature and intended audience of the images. Here are some guidelines to help you make an informed decision:
Public Upload: Publicly uploading an image means it will be visible to other users of the PicTrax platform. Public images are suitable for sharing travel experiences, showcasing destinations, and contributing to the community. They can be seen and appreciated by a wider audience.
Private Upload: If you prefer to keep your personal photos or sensitive information private, you can upload them to your “private profile.” Private images are not visible to other users and are meant for personal use or specific purposes. This allows you to track your own travels or store images that may not be suitable for public viewing.
Personal Nature: If the image is of a personal nature, such as family moments or private events, it’s best to upload them as private to maintain privacy.
Sensitive Information: Images containing sensitive information, such as personal addresses, private property or confidential locations, should be uploaded as private to prevent unauthorised access attempts.
Appropriate Content: Assess whether the image and its location are appropriate for public viewing. Consider the impact and potential implications of sharing the image with others.
Platform Policies: Be aware of any platform policies or guidelines regarding image privacy. Some images may be subject to moderation or removal by app administrators.
Ultimately, the decision to upload images as public or private is up to you. PicTrax provides the flexibility to choose the appropriate visibility settings for your images. As the image uploader, you will have an ellipsis menu (three dots) in the top right corner of your image in detail view, that will allow you to make your image public or private, and you may also edit or delete the post.

Your personal privacy is very important to us. When you upload an image to PicTrax (publicly), it will because you are happy to share the location of your discovery with others around the world.
If you do not want this to happen, please upload your images to private, or simply do not upload your images to this platform!
Your ‘current location’ is used as an in-app function to help you find destinations ‘near you’ and to give you a starting point when uploading images without GPS metadata. It is used for these purposes only – there is no visibility of any user’s current location from any other user or by app administration, nor do we store or in any way utilise this data. We value and protect your privacy as much as we value and protect ours.
See our privacy policy here.
